About THE ARTIST
a lifelong passion
Jason Rugolo was born among the boundless beauty of the Sonoran Desert in a family of art and photography enthusiasts. Cutting his teeth at a young age on 35mm film, he took naturally to the digital photography revolution. Jason most passionately creates portraits and landscapes, though also enjoys exploring other photography genres.
in pursuit of beauty
“The soul that sees beauty may sometimes walk alone.” – Goethe
“To love beauty is to see light.” – Victor Hugo
“The pursuit of truth and beauty is a sphere of activity in which we are permitted to remain children all our lives.” – Albert Einstein
The landscapes are not going to come to you :). Jason spends a good deal of time exploring the outdoors in pursuit of natural beauty. He finds inspiration from the great landscape artists, including Sargent, Sorolla, Zorn, Whistler, Adams, Payne, Dixon, George Carlson, Len Chmiel, Matt Smith, Clyde Aspevig, among many others.
Jason shoots outdoor and studio fine art portraiture, preferring single light techniques, with particular interest in the human form and emotional expression.
…and enjoys a collection of way, way too much photography equipment. ;)
